Amazon UK fee and margin calculator

Amazon's own calculator stops at net proceeds. This one carries on to the number you actually care about: what is left per unit after the referral fee, fulfilment, the Digital Services Fee, VAT, advertising, returns and the product itself. Change any figure and the breakdown updates.

Most categories are 15%. Check your category on the UK referral fee schedule.

Estimates only. Amazon changes its fees; the FBA Revenue Calculator in Seller Central is the source of truth for referral and fulfilment fees on a specific ASIN. Storage, returns and ad spend are your own assumptions.

How the numbers work

  • Referral fee — Amazon's commission, a percentage of the VAT-inclusive price. Most categories are 15%; a few sit lower or higher, so check yours on the UK referral fee schedule.
  • Selling plan — Professional is £25 a month plus VAT with no per-item fee; Individual charges £0.75 on every unit instead. Past roughly 35 units a month, Professional is cheaper, and you need it for advertising and the Buy Box anyway.
  • FBA fulfilment fee — per unit, set by size tier and weight. Weigh and measure the packed product and take the exact figure from the FBA Revenue Calculator.
  • Digital Services Fee — 2% of your referral, per-item and fulfilment fees on the UK marketplace. Small, easy to miss, and it compounds across a catalogue.
  • VAT — if you are registered, a sixth of the sale price goes to HMRC before anything else. If you are not, you keep it, but you cannot reclaim the VAT on your costs either.
  • Advertising and returns — enter your true TACoS (ad spend across all sales) and a returns allowance. Both are your own assumptions, and both are where "profitable" products quietly stop being profitable.

Questions people ask

Is the referral fee charged on the price including VAT?
Yes. Amazon calculates the referral fee on the total sale price the customer pays, which includes VAT and any shipping you charge.
What is the Digital Services Fee?
A 2% fee Amazon adds on the UK marketplace to cover the UK Digital Services Tax. It is calculated on your referral and fulfilment fees, not on the sale price.
Where do I get the exact FBA fulfilment fee for my product?
From the FBA Revenue Calculator in Seller Central. Enter your ASIN or dimensions and it returns the fulfilment fee for your size tier. Paste that figure into the calculator above.
What is break-even TACoS?
The share of sales you could spend on advertising before the unit makes a loss. If your real TACoS is above it, each sale loses money after ads.

Want this done for your whole catalogue?

We run the numbers on every SKU before we touch pricing or advertising, because a listing that cannot afford ads should not be running them. If untangling that is not how you want to spend your week, it is the sort of thing we handle.
